What inspired the creation of Pa’akai Cleansing Cream?
The ocean has always been my special place. The place I go to to heal, play and rejuvenate my soul. As a child growing up in Hawaii.. we are told by our parents to go jump in the ocean any time anything was wrong with us; whether we were battling a cold, had body pains or cramps, were dealing with a broken heart or had a skin condition that needed treatment. When I became an esthetician, I then understood why the Hawaiian sea salt in the ocean helped our skin so much… it helps to restore our skin and body’s natural minerals, like potassium, calcium, magnesium and sodium… all of which play an important role in health, function and cellular communication of our skin. Sea salt is also anti-bacterial and a natural cleanser that helps to deep clean pores while addressing breakouts and acne. Its anti-inflammatory benefits also work to calm the skin. Pa’akai or Hawaiian sea salt is what is what makes our cleansing cream so magical and beneficial for all skin conditions despite its creamy nature. We use Hawaiian salt dissolved in coconut water (for added hydration) as our healing base. This cleanser has not only kept our families skin in check but has helped us through our many days being away from home and our healing waters… offering a little bit of that much needed ocean therapy. It's like our refreshing morning jump in the ocean and our end of the night soothing soak.
What other ingredients did I add to make this formulation so amazing?
Aside from the sea salt mentioned above, I decided to use seaweed extract, another ocean gem. It works to strengthen and renew the skin, while accelerating the natural skin repair process. I then added hibiscus for its gentle AHA properties, helping to exfoliate the skin and tighten pores. The mucilage in the petals also gives some added hydration and plumping.The slightly floral scent comes from the blend of rose, calendula, comfrey, rosehips, lavender and coconut water.. all which bring to the table various strengths, such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory super powers, hydration, calming and soothing.
How to use Pa’akai?
I use Pa’akai as both my am/pm cleanser, but my favorite thing ever is to massage a few pumps of Pa’akai Cleansing Cream on to my face first thing in the morning then step into the shower letting the steam really soak it all in… then I get out and wipe it off gently with a cool washcloth. It is so refreshing and gives my skin a beautiful glow… it almost looks like I just took a dip in the ocean. Perfect way to wake up the skin. For those of you who need a little extra help removing makeup or need a little more exfoliation… feel free to add a pump of the Hawaiian Beauty Water into the cleanser. This will give it exfoliating super powers. Pa’akai is also a great mask, the longer you leave it, the better.. We even have customers who sleep in it.
