Skin that Glows...with Kecia Littman

Kecia Littman knows good skin.  As a celebrity makeup artist and lead educator for Pat McGrath Labs, her job is makeup and teaching other experts how to use it.  Her Instagram feed @kecialittman showcases her creativity, talent and passion for skincare and makeup.
She may not be behind the counter as much these days, but she is just as passionate, if not more so, about skincare and self-care.  In April, Kecia started a meditation challenge with Deepak Chopra and that, along with support from friends and family, has helped her to stay grounded during the ongoing pandemic.
Why meditation?
Meditation is a universal language and something we could all use as a tool to clear the chatter in our minds and have a deeper connection with ourselves.  I've been on a 21 day meditation and am grateful to friends that shared the challenge with me.  It's amazing when you have something to look forward to and a support group to keep you motivated during this pandemic.
You typically have pretty long hours when you are on set or on location.  How do you keep your skin looking so fresh all of the time?
On my days off I’m selfish. I give my mind and my body the time and activity it needs to rest and reset. Whether it’s refueling with clean food and fresh produce, working out with my favorite friends, or recharging my soul in the Hawaiian mineral rich ocean under the warmth of the solar sun… unless of course my husband or precious clients call. Then I’m completely selfless. It's a balance.
You have such a fun and inspiring job.  What do you love about it?
I love to teach makeup artistry to anyone who wants to gain a feeling of self confidence through the art of makeup.
Tell us about your current skincare routine?
During the day I start with Pa'akai cleanser, then serum and moisturizer and my MALU reef safe SPF.  I love the 'Āina Mask.  'Āina means land in Hawaiian so it is bringing in the Hawaiian culture.  Also, it has ni'oi, which is the Hawaiian chili pepper and 'Ōlena, which is Hawaiian turmeric. These help to brighten my skin.  It makes my skin glowy with a more even skin tone.
What’s the best way to nourish your skin from the inside out?
Probiotics daily, powder vitamin C and making sure I drink water throughout the day!
At Honua, we’re passionate about creating clean skincare products. What do you think is the most important clean beauty swap to make?
Being aware of the effects that sunscreen has on our coral reefs. I only use non-nano zinc oxide now and I’m happy Honua has Malu SPF Day Cream!
Do you have any "insider" skin tips?
Definitely Hawaiian beauty exfoliating water. I love using it as a skin prep before I apply makeup on my clients.
