The New Aloha - Bakuchiol Makes an Appearance

This year we re-formulated our HERO product, our Aloha Youth Serum to include the most trending plant based ingredient of 2019, BAKUCHIOL: a cleaner and more gentle alternative to RETINOL. We could have created a new Bakuchiol retinol serum like many other companies have to entice you to buy a new product... but that is not Honua. We wanted to add value to the serum that you all love and use on a daily basis. So this new Aloha Youth Serum is not just a one day savings, but will save you all year round as it packs two products in to one and allows you to experience the benefits of a plant based retinol while still enjoying your favorite skin loving youth serum. 

With our dedication to keeping a small curated lineup for all skin types and conditions, we wanted to ensure that our Youth Serum is THE one product that continuously evolves as plant technology does as well.  If you aren't familiar with Bakuchiol, it is derived from the babchi plant (native to East Asia).  It is naturally anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant that has been used in various cultures as a medicinal aid.  Sounds like a lot of our other ingredients too, right?  Well, Bakuchiol has been compared over and over to retinol, which may be a game changer in skincare.  Retinol can be effective, but can result in dry, flaky skin and even fundamentally changes skin texture in some extreme examples we've seen.  We probably all know people that swear by retinol....if you can get through the first few weeks or months of the flakiness.  We also know people that have inadvertently damaged their skin forever with retinol. Well, we don't think it should have to be that way.  But we do want to provide the very best anti-aging product without compromise. 

Bakuchiol works in a similar way and helps to turn over skin cells, allowing fresh skin cells to come to the top.  It also pushes collagen to the surface for a more elastic, youthful skin.  Lastly, it is WAY less irritating.  After doing her own research, Kapua felt it would be a great addition to our beautiful serum. While doing the revisions, we also were able to include a new Macadamia Oil from a local farm on Maui that gives the serum an even creamier more luxe finish. Still light and silky, but slightly more hydrating. You'll see!  

Our newly formulated serum doesn't technically launch until January, but is available in our Ritual Sets starting today.
