What is (and isn't) in Honua products
How many cosmetic products do you use in a day? Do you ever glance at the ingredients label and wonder what polyethylene even is and why it’s in your favorite foaming face wash? Most of us put a lot of trust in skincare and cosmetic companies, and assume that the products they’re selling us are safe to use. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be on the shelves, right?
Unfortunately, studies in the last few years find that our most commonly used beauty products contain harmful chemicals and toxin and the industry as a whole remains highly unregulated. The EWG (Environmental Working Group) states that “women use 12 personal care products a day, exposing themselves to 168 chemical ingredients.” Scary, right?
Thankfully, conversations are at an all-time high regarding all-natural, toxic free cosmetic products and there’s been a huge push for transparency in the health and beauty industry. While we can’t eliminate all contact with chemicals and toxins, we do have control over the products we purchase, and what we choose to use on our bodies.
Why Buy All-Natural and Non-Toxic
Our skin is our largest organ, so what we put on it can be absorbed by the body and enter into our bloodstream. Many of the ingredients in skin care products have been linked to issues like cancer, hormone disruption, reproductive problems, and more. A major challenge for us consumers is knowing which ingredients to avoid, and there’s quite a few of them in everything from body lotions to face masks! At Honua, we are uncompromising when it comes to our ingredients and many are organic and wild-crafted. All are sourced sustainably, intentionally and with aloha. Here are some of our botanical superstars you’ll find in our products.
